Meet Sloan: B2g Mom & Volunteer
During the first few weeks of now six-year-old Addie’s life, her mom, Sloan, had some concerns about her baby’s development. When Addie (front-left) was 18 months of age, she was diagnosed with TRMU Deficiency, which is associated with acute liver failure. In addition to her medical needs, Addie experienced some developmental delays – like feeding challenges and delayed walking – likely due to her lengthy hospitalizations.
“When I found B2G, we were already through the worst of our situation,” Sloan explains. “But I knew the feeling of needing local support, and of needing someone to say, ‘Here’s the skilled nursing we use’ or ‘This is how we got insurance coverage.’” Sloan shares, “From big things to little things, there’s so much value for families to connect with other families who can say, ‘Hey, we’ve done this.’ I recognized the benefits of Better2gether and wanted to get involved.”
Sloan is part of the communications planning team who is working to connect with donors to raise much needed funds to serve additional parents and families. “My involvement with Better2gether has worked well in many ways,” Sloan explains. “I’ve gotten a ton out of it. It’s been a rich and meaningful experience for me and my entire family.”
Sloan, thank you for your time and dedication to helping Better2gether grow!
