Welcome Dr. Daniel Cannone to the Better2gether Board of Directors

Better2gether is excited to welcome Dr. Daniel Cannone to our Board of Directors. A dedicated pediatric palliative and hospice care physician, educator, and advocate, Dr. Cannone brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to improving the lives of children with medical complexity and the families who love them.

Dr. Cannone serves on the Supportive Care team at Children's Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) and is the Assistant Medical Director of Noah's Children, a home-based pediatric hospice and palliative care program through Bon Secours that serves families throughout the greater Richmond region. Every day, he cares for children with serious and life-threatening illnesses, congenital conditions, and chronic medical complexities, providing compassionate, family-centered care when it matters most.

Originally from Long Island, New York, Dr. Cannone grew up in North Carolina and completed his medical training and subspecialty fellowships across Virginia, New York, and Tennessee. Since moving to Richmond in 2019 with his partner, he has embraced the city's vibrant culture, incredible food scene, outdoor festivals, and, most importantly, the kindness of the community.

His connection to Better2gether runs deep. Through colleagues including former board member Dr. Kelly Lastrapes and Dr. Tiffany Kimbrough, founder of the Complex Care Clinic at CHoR, Dr. Cannone has long been familiar with the organization's mission and impact. Alongside these colleagues, he has cared for many of the children and families supported by Better2gether, witnessing firsthand the difference that practical resources, advocacy, and community support can make.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Cannone describes himself as a "running hobbyist"—someone who loves to run, even if he doesn't take it too seriously. That changed after participating in Better2gether's Halloween Hustle, where he met Stephanie Becker and found new inspiration. Since then, he has completed two half-marathons and become even more passionate about serving children with complex medical needs in the Richmond community. This year, he's already training extra hard for the next Halloween Hustle!

Dr. Cannone also serves as the Associate Program Director for Clinical Competency and Coaching for the Pediatric Residency Program at CHoR. In this role, he mentors future pediatricians while promoting compassionate, high-quality care, encouraging thoughtful communication, and helping trainees recognize and challenge biases that impact children with medical complexity.

His decision to join the Better2gether Board reflects his unwavering belief that every child deserves equitable access to care and the highest possible quality of life, regardless of diagnosis or ability. He is passionate about supporting organizations that create meaningful, direct impact for local families and looks forward to contributing new ideas for engagement and fundraising while strengthening the organization's existing programs and initiatives.

Please join us in giving a warm Better2gether welcome to Dr. Daniel Cannone. We are honored to have his expertise, compassion, and dedication helping guide our mission as we continue supporting families navigating childhood medical complexity—together.
