Community Partner Spotlight: Northbank Partners

At Better2gether, we are grateful for the dedicated businesses and organizations that stand beside us in our mission to support families of children with rare and chronic medical cconditions. One of those valued partners is Northbank Partners, a company that has embraced giving back as part of its core values.

Northbank’s connection with Better2gether began through a chance meeting at a networking event when Phil, the company's former managing member, met Executive Director Stephanie Becker. That introduction sparked a partnership that has continued under the leadership of Bob Wheatley. After meeting Stephanie and learning firsthand how Better2gether provides direct support to families in the Richmond area, Bob knew it was a cause he wanted to continue championing.

What sets Better2gether apart, according to Bob, is its hands-on approach and personal connection with the families it serves. "I’m pretty sure all the families know who Stephanie is," he notes, emphasizing the direct impact of care packages, resources, and one-on-one support provided by the organization.

Northbank Partners has been a steadfast supporter of Better2gether, returning this year as the Silent Auction sponsor for the Better2gether Golf Classic, hosting donor appreciation events and actively participating in the annual golf tournament. For Bob, the golf event is not only a great way to contribute but also an opportunity to bring clients together for a meaningful cause.

Bob’s commitment to community engagement extends beyond Better2gether. He has long been involved with Goochland County, where he lives, and has served on the board of the Carytown Merchant’s Association for the past four years. Supporting Better2gether has allowed him to expand his impact beyond his immediate community.

One of the reasons Bob believes in supporting local organizations like Better2gether is the tangible difference they make. "It’s important to be hyper-local when supporting organizations like B2G because they don’t have the breadth of a large national nonprofit receiving millions in donations. There’s not a ton of overhead, which means a greater percentage of the money raised goes directly to families in need," he explains.

Their ongoing partnership with Better2gether is a testament to their dedication to making a real difference in the lives of families navigating medical complexities.
