Community Partner Spotlight: Julie Atlas Photography

At Better2gether, our work is made stronger by passionate community partners who believe deeply in supporting families navigating complex medical journeys—and Julie Atlas Photography is a beautiful example of that commitment in action.

For founder Julie Atlas, the connection to Better2gether is both professional and deeply personal. “My family lives in the medically complex and rare world,” she shares. “We could have really benefited from added support.” That lived experience is what makes her partnership so meaningful—and why Better2gether’s mission resonates so strongly.

Julie recognizes the unique role Better2gether plays in the community. “They fill a need that overlaps and fills in the gaps that other organizations can’t—especially for rarer diagnoses,” she explains. “Not being a research center allows them to truly meet families where they are and provide real, day-to-day support.”

A familiar face at Better2gether’s annual Golf Tournament, Julie says one of her favorite parts of the partnership is seeing the community come together in support of families. “It’s incredible to watch—and a bonus that I get to drive around in a golf cart!” she adds with a smile.

While Julie’s business has always been rooted in giving back—particularly to children in the foster care system—her partnership with Better2gether reflects her intentional approach to community impact. “I’m very careful to align with organizations that share my personal mission of doing good,” she says. “If you want to make a difference for children and families in our community, this is the organization to do it with.”

Through her work, Julie has also had the opportunity to connect directly with Better2gether families. “Hearing their stories lifts and inspires me to become an even better version of myself,” she shares. “It’s incredibly meaningful.”

Looking ahead, Julie is especially excited about a current initiative: Sidekick Adventures, a heartfelt photography project designed to celebrate the bond between children and their pets while giving back. The goal is to raise $15,000 for Better2gether through a black-and-white coffee table book featuring 100 children and their beloved companions. Each participating family will receive a portrait session, with all session fees donated to Better2gether. Families will also have the option to purchase prints and the final book—a lasting tribute to these special connections.

Julie’s passion, generosity, and creativity are helping bring this project to life—and ultimately, helping more families feel seen, supported, and connected.
